Day 1: Depart your hometown - Fairbanks
Upon arrival in Fairbanks, we will transfer to our hotel for a two night stay.
Day 2: Fairbanks
Our day is filled with exciting activities while on a Fairbanks City Tour, including a tour of the El Dorado Gold Mine where we pan for gold. Then in the afternoon, we enjoy a cruise on the Riverboat Discovery Sternwheeler. Visit a Native village and meet an Iditarod champion’s sled dogs.
Day 3 Fairbanks - Denali
This morning, reload your camera for the luxury rail ride to Denali National Park. Denali Princess Wilderness, our lodge features fine dining and attentive service.
Day 4: Denali - Talkeetna
A morning of adventure is ours on the Natural History Tour that takes us into the heart of the national park to the best wildlife viewing and lookout points for Mt. McKinley. This afternoon we depart for Mt. McKinley Princess Lodge. Tonight, relive your experience over cocktails, dinner or an espresso by the fire.
Day 5: Talkeetna
Enjoy your surroundings. Today is at your leisure.
Day 6: Direct to the Ship
Today we depart Talkeetna onboard our luxury rail car and are transported directly to Whittier where we board the magnificent Island Princess for our seven day southbound inside passage cruise.
Day 7: College Fjord, Alaska (Scenic Cruising)
Some of the best glacier viewing in the state can be seen at College Fjord. Tucked into the northwest corner of Prince William Sound, this fjord boasts the world’s largest collection of tidewater glaciers — 16, named after Ivy League colleges by the Harriman Expedition that discovered them in 1899.
Day 9: Skagway
Just imagine thousands of gold-crazed adventurers seeking the best jumping-off spot for their arduous trek. They found the deepest penetration by boat was at the northern tip of the Lynn Canal. This is how Skagway was born. Here we can ride the world-famous White Pass and Yukon Railroad and then visit one of the historic gold-rush camps, where we can browse though cabins and tents that were once used as a bakery and a saloon.
(Tours are additional)
Day 10: Juneau
Today we arrive in Juneau, the capital of Alaska. Juneau is home to some of Alaska’s most spectacular scenery. Nestled at the foot of Mt. Juneau, the city faces the water from the mainland side of Gastineau Channel. Several magnificent fjords are located along the channel coast and the majestic Mendenhall Glacier.
(Tours are additional)
Day 11: Ketchikan
Ketchikan originated as an Indian fish saltery, but the town’s major growth began when it became a supply base and entry port for miners during the 1898 Gold Rush to the Klondike. Much of the town’s colorful past is still in evidence, especially in the nearby Indian villages, where you’ll see colorfully carved totem poles and hear the fascinating legends that surround them.
(Tours are additional)
Day 12: Inside Passage (Cruising)
Cruising through the Inside Passage is really what has made Alaska cruising so popular. This trip captures so much of what people love about Alaska. There are glaciers the size of Rhode Island. Misty rain forests and ghostly blue fjords and spirited communities that celebrate their varied heritage. Be sure to take in every view as you sail through one of the most beautiful parts of Alaska.
Day 13: Vancouver, British Columbia - Home
Today we arrive in Vancouver, British Columbia. We will disembark the ship in the morning and transfer to the airport. We arrive home in the early evening. What an adventure we had, and what better way to experience that adventure than with friends!
